Coastal botanicals
This triptych celebrates the extraordinary beauty and diversity of Australia’s native coastal flora, focusing on the sculptural forms of the banksias and grevilleas that thrive throughout Queensland’s coastal landscapes. Each panel offers an intimate study of these remarkable plants, revealing the intricate textures, patterns, and structures that are often overlooked in the broader landscape.
Each panel functions as an individual botanical study and a unified composition in it’s own right. Importantly, they highlight the abundance and diversity that support countless birds, insects, and other wildlife. More than the beautiful subjects that they are, these plants are essential components of a thriving and balanced environment. As an avid caretaker of the environment, Mel encourages everyone to not only appreciate, but truly care for the fragile ecosystem of our coastal vegetation.
